Under the bridge
It all started when…
Under the Bridge is a project that celebrates the community within Garston, challenges perceptions between generations and supports young people on the cusp of becoming teenagers to enable them with the skills and understanding of how to make good choices.
Working with the Year Six cohorts at Banks Road Primary and Holy Trinity Primary we worked with the participants to create activities and final performance that engaged the wider ‘under the bridge’ community/ residents. Through shared dialogue with the wider community the participants identified and articulated the positives within the community, the need for change and be empowered to make change.
We worked with visual artist Ruter Staseviciute, spoken word artist PJ Smith and film maker Graham Kay to explore the key things that the children wanted in the area and what difference they felt it would make.
