Be.Spoke

Both Emma and Sarah have both worked in education for over 25 years in different settings. We love sharing our knowledge and are passionate about engaging and sharing our work and processes with the other artists.

Be.Spoke covers a range of creative workshops and offers that we can run with your community. All of our work draws upon a rich pedagogical underpinning drawn from our combined practice of drama for learning, acting techniques, contemporary theatre making techniques and play.

We can offer a range of workshops or project development and guidance for participants.

Workshop examples include:

  • Making with Lived Experience: a workshop that helps those with creative ideas for live performance work and need the creative space and support to take shape and form.

  • Working with Lived Experience: this workshop explores best practice and guidance for artists who plan to work with communities or participants and lived experience. It covers a range of areas such as ethical codes of practice and planning questions that create safe spaces.

  • Actor as Facilitator: a series of workshops on how to facilitate space drawing from actor experience but exploring the role of a facilitator within creative spaces. It explores the many roles a facilitator can take and how to use inquiry based questioning techniques to open up and manage creative spaces.

  • Drama for Learning: a series of workshops on how to create inquiry based drama for learning sessions and how to co create with participants, the curriculum and the story. Workshops explore the practice of scaffolding workshops for participants. Drawing on Dorothy Heathcote and Edward Bond this session ensures practitioners have a better understanding of how to immerse participants in to the fictional world and how to plan for co coconstruction.

  • Be.Spoke: we can tailor make our projects to suit you. Previous workshops include: One to One Theatre, Immersive Theatre, Devising and Verbatim.

We can also support, create and deliver a range of Be.Spoke workshops suited to your needs!

Testimonials

“Emma and sarah have an incredibly nunaced and tailored approach to working with lived experience. With their advice and support, their workshops gave me the tools to look deeper into my own practice to figure out what type of socially engaged theatre I wanted to make. Fast forward two years later, and I’ve written three plays using those tools to make lived experience at the centre of their creation” Sasha Georgette

“All Things Considered empowered me as a theatre maker giving me solid tools and thinking exercises to get my ideas off the ground- so grateful for it! Since working with All Things I have created and performed my own work! I usually let an idea fester in my mind until its rotten and I convince myself out of it but working with Emma and Sarah was invaluable now my ideas live in the real world. Highly recommend their workshops far and wide!” Alice Way
