We are looking for three wonderful women, based in the North West, to be part of our next work in progress performance…

“Unsolicited: A cabaret show about misogyny, sexual assault and a boat”

Unsolicited is a cabaret style play with songs that tackles head on misogyny and sexual assault. It is based on verbatim testimonies and leaves no topic off the list. However it is also funny, comedic and surreal. It had its first run in Feb 2023 and now we are revising and developing it through to the next stage.

We are looking for three female actors who are also strong singers, movers and tell a joke. You’ll need to be able to pick up material quickly and work well in an ensemble. We need actors who can multi-role caricatures as well as communicate difficult and emotive dialogue. You must be playful, a good collaborator and MUST be able to work with very challenging, explicit, violent and triggering material. You must be based in the North West.

Roles:

Daisy : Daisy is a young woman in her early 20s. She is bubbly, flirty and sexually confident. She gets dismissed by others due to her outer beauty but has an inner drive and power. She is also very brave, funny and nurturing. Ideally she has a strong northern accent.

Susan: A woman In her 40s/50s. She is a highly strung and nervous woman who has had a very unhappy marriage. She is physically goofy and can also be very naive. She is the root of a lot of the comedy and enjoys the drama of her singlehood and lack of ability to engage with men. She is on a journey of self discovery and self fulfilment.

Jade: Jade is black/mixed race woman in her 20s/30s. She is intelligent, passionate and political. She speaks out and often voices the contradictions of being in love with men whilst also being a staunch feminist.
